Trails through forests and grasslands lead up to Mullayanagiri Peak..! The foothills of the Mullayanagiri range is Chikmagalur – a town with its favourable climate and coffee estates that attracts tourists from around the state. Chikmagalur city is at the foot of highest mountain range in the Karnataka state of India.
Chikmagalur (Chikka-magaluru) gets its name from “Younger” (meaning Chikka) “Daughter” (Magalu) “City” (Ooru). It is said to have been given as a dowry to the younger daughter of Rukmangada, the legendary chief of Sakrepatna.
We went on a weekend trip with family & friends and had a great time. The stay was arranged a home-stay called “Pavana Ganga” – isolated from the city, further away from Chikmagalur Town. After crossing the town, we witnessed the scenic beauty of Mullayanagiri landscape with romantic climate.

Roadway to our destination was not so smooth, especially the last 8 kilometres of an unpaved path (most inspiring trail for a 4×4 SUV). Google maps don’t help here. We were advised to follow the sign-boards placed across forests and coffee estates.
And finally, we made it…!

The home-stay was isolated entirely without phone and network connectivity, and we had a good time with family and friends. My friend reminded me that “In fact, we have digital detoxification.”

One must taste the coffee from this place, the savoury and refreshing.., naturally flavoured and rich in aroma, which was prepared using the coffee powder that produced straight from their gardens.
